Our PTSA Board has had a busy year so far and in addition to our membership meetings, some of the events the PTSA has sponsored so far this year have been:
- The Welcome Back to School Teacher/Staff Breakfast
- The Fall Fundraiser
- The Family Dinner Out wings dinner event
- The Red Ribbon Week Poster and Writing Competition
- Holiday Treats and Gift Wrapping for Teachers and Staff
- The Movie Night in support of the Michael Brewer Fund
- Our after school sales of $0.25 ice pops or candy on Fridays
Our membership drive this year was outstanding with a record 235 memberships. We have 61 student members, many of whom have helped at the meetings for community service hours. Fifty-eight of our teachers and staff joined this year along with 116 parents.
Many of these parents have stepped up to volunteer and have helped at our health screenings, our book fairs, and our dinner and movie night and on field trips. Some assist teachers with reading assessments and other testing. Our volunteers are wonderful and they make everything PTSA does possible.
The 2009-2010 DBMS PTSA gift to the school this year are the wonderful school spirit murals of our mascot, the Buck, that adorn the walls of the cafetorium for the students to see everyday. We hope these murals will brighten the days for our students, teachers and staff and add to our school spirit.
